Fundamentals & Health Assessment day 1!!!

Jell'o Everyone!!!!

I survived week 1 in scrubs!! There's something about putting on some scrubs and heading out the door that makes me feel a lil more official! I REALLY AM A NURSING STUDENT!!! Like I've said in the passed, it wasn't easy getting here and every new step forward is a milestone in my book. I'm learning more fun stuff and I'm loving every moment. These classes are definitely going to be a lot of work but I'm excited because I'm actually doing so on-hands stuff. I have Fundamentals lecture and then a lab and the same goes for Health assessment. We sit in lecture to learn about these classes and then put it in practice. Day 1 is mainly about going over the syllabus and setting the law of the land out clear for everyone's understanding. Once that is out of the way we dive into course material. As soon as material was done we have to make sure we study our little hearts out because the next class is exam 1. Yup just like that exams start. It gets real, really quick. In lab we'll learn the proper way to do things and practice on the dummy's we have or classmates. We went over how to properly change a wound dressing and after that we have to do check offs. I did my check offs and did great! I have no prior medical experience. So, if I'm getting A's in all of my classes so can you!

I'm sure these next few weeks will be full of studying and a lot of work to do. I'll keep you all posted. I recently had to change by lanyard to a badge reel and purchased a super cute one on Etsy. Lanyards are a bad idea when it comes to dealing with patients. They can become unsanitary and uncomfortable really quickly. The badge reel should be arriving today!! It's blurry but I'll upload a better picture once I get it. If you're looking for a cute one feel free to look up BBgiftsandmore. I didn't have any trouble with the ordering process and the confirmation email was the best one I've gotten. It was reassuring me that if I wasn't pleased they would be more than happy to fix it. So far no delays in the shipping process either. I'll keep you all posted once it arrives.

I'm headed to study now ... Here goes another fun session!

P.S. Don't think I've shared this before but I will now. Since May I've gotten to know a few people in my classes and they are awesome. Find your niche. These people doing nursing school with you are the only ones that fully understand because they are in it with you. Find goal oriented people. Don't get distracted with ppl that are there to complain or slack. Find those people that will help you out and vice versa. Our lil group is awesome. I love them more than they know!!!
