Lab & Clinicals .... I'm ready!
Jell'o Everyone!!!
So I am finally ready for labs & clinicals! Yay me. Who would of thought that this too was a process? Well, apparently not me. In most nursing school you have to be compliant ready. There's a list of vaccinations and health requirements you have to meet that makes you compliant. It can be a process. It would be awesome if the entire US had one location for records. It would be easier to get immunization records. That's my complaining for the day, lol. Like I said, there's a list of things I had to get done: documents signed from my physician, vaccinations, physical etc. These things are to be able to sit in class period. Since there are people in the building that are exposed to sick people we all have to make sure we are safe to be around them. Kills two birds with one stone because that's also what's needed to be able to participate in clinicals. Not a coincidence :). I then had a list of items to purchase for labs (which are pretty much on campus clinicals). Stethoscope, pen light, uniforms, shoes, lab kit etc. I mentioned in a previous post that I was looking into stethoscopes and wasn't sure which one I should purchase. I wanted something that wasn't going to be too expensive but did want something that I could use throughout school and use once I graduate. I'm blessed to have people surrounding me that believe in me. My brother and sister-in-love bought me a Littmann classic III black edition. I cried. Yea, it's just a stethoscope but, how sweet is it for them to gift me my first stethoscope because they want to plant a seed in my career? Extremely. I love them! I purchased uniforms. I initially purchased the wrong size for the bottoms but got it right the second time around. If your school doesn't provide a fitting, it's always good to find out what company makes their uniforms and visit a local store with the same brand for sizing. I purchased shoes as well. I worked retail in the past and know that my heels tend to hurt when I stand for long. I wanted to make sure that my shoes were comfortable. I thought I would end up with Danko's. I kept seeing those in blogs but I wasn't convinced. I might rethink my decision depending on my experience. I'm thinking there's a reason why they are popular in the nursing world but, we'll see. I wanted to purchase shoes that were going to last, comfortable and fairly inexpensive. I ended up with some all white skechers elite with a memory foam inside the entire shoe. I tried them on and felt in heaven. I found those on a blog as well and decided to give it a try. I'll let you all know how it goes!
I start labs in 2 weeks! I'm very excited to say the least!

HI I've been following your blog for about a month now and I had a few questions. I'm interested in Chamberlain college in Atlanta currently I live in Philadelphia, but will be transferring my job to the Atlanta area hospital location. I wanted to know more about the cost, I seen a lot of people saying it's not worth it, but I'm currently in school finishing up my pre request and the waitlist to me isn't worth it. I'm considering paying more for this reason alone. How are the classes and what time schedule do they offer?
