ACCEPTANCE!!!

Jell'o Everyone!!!

SOOOOOO I GOT ACCEPTED TO NURSING SCHOOL!!!

(by now you already know I got accepted into nursing school and its the entire reason why I started this blog but I must include this post. It still gets me soooooo excited!!!)

Last post I told you a little of the ins and outs of the application process but now I'll tell you a little bit about my personal experience. So, here it goes. I applied to 4 different schools. I literally looked up ALL the schools that were about an hour from my house. I wanted to make sure I had as many plan "B's" as possible. I then looked at their requirements. Prereq's, exams, recommendation letters, etc. Some schools required that you get accepted to their school before applying to the BSN program. Some required that you complete a certain amount of hours in their institution prior to applying. Some of those were deal breakers for me and that started the elimination process for me.

Once I got down to a good list, I wrote down their deadlines and went on from there. I called each one and attended any open house events. I made sure I attended the tour portion of the open house and got to see the facilities. Once I applied the wait was killing me! Yup, it will probably be the same for you. I initially didn't truly have a top school. I was able to attend two open house and the other two didn't offer that. So, once I applied I had two top schools. One for facility reasons (I loved the labs and it looked like a place where I could really learn and become an awesome nurse) and the other top was more so for the name (it's a school that is very well known all over the world). For sake of not confusing you all (which I might do often :)) I'll call them schools A (one with the awesome facility), B (well known school), C & D.

I got an email from B. I was loosing my mind!! I was at work and wasn't supposed to be on my phone but I HAD TO OPEN THAT EMAIL .... and so I did. I got waitlisted! I'm thinking OMG! That's not ideal but that means I didn't get rejected, they just don't have an open spot for me. Then back to the waiting game. School D emails me and unfortunately I didn't get accepted. :(

One day I'm sitting in my microbiology class and in the middle of lecture the admissions advisor I had been dealing with from school A calls me. I ran out of class! Literally dropped everything I had in hand and ran! It was THE call. I got accepted to their nursing program. THANK YOU JESUS!!! Yes I did say that. I immediately called my husband and the tears just flowed. I couldn't contain them. I called my mom and told her the good news! God had been hearing my prayers since before applying and all I could do was thank Him for such an opportunity. A week later school C emails me with another acceptance letter. How awesome is that?

I decided that school A would be the route I would take and I can say it was a great choice. Hard work pays off! I know that it won't be easy but I will get through it. Here's to sharing my journey with you all. Next stop .... orientation!!!
