What's in my pockets? .... Clinical Essentials & Nurse's Week FUN!

Jell'o Everyone!!

Happy Nurse's week 2017!!!! Those that know me know that I don't think it's right to celebrate your birthday ONE day? .... I'm celebrating my life and I'm just going to celebrate ONE day? Umm let's try that again!

What if you want to go to a concert and it's not on your birthday? Or what if you want to celebrate all week .... or all month? Go ahead. You now have my permission. Yes you're a year older but THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT!! You're not celebrating because you lost a year you gained one. What a huge blessing to wake up every day and to be able to make it another year on this earth is definitely something that should be celebrated more than once a year. I'm a fan of treating yourself. Life has so many up's and down's so why not celebrate whenever you want?

With that said ..... I love ... wait let me make it clear .... I LOVEEEEEE that nurse's celebrate an entire week! That's my kind of celebration. Thanks to all those nurses out there that are passionately & lovingly taking care of those in need. Thank you to all those students that are working towards a career that is entirely revolved around caring for people in need. How awesome is that? I love to serve others and nursing is perfect for me. I can care for people without people looking at me with that "weird" look. You ever gone out of your way to do something extra nice for someone and they look at you with a confused face? Like ... um no one has ever done something that nice ... this person must want something in return? ... Nope nurse's are doing it because they love it. Yes they are getting paid BUT there's a huge difference between just doing the job and putting your heart into it. Nurse's not only work towards bringing their patient back to health but care for family members. It's a holistic view. Patient's are more than a sick person. Thank you to that one nurse (or multiple) nurses that inspired us nursing students to follow in your footsteps.

With nurses week in mind. I wanted to share what I consider my clinical essentials. I make sure I have these in my pockets each time I'm headed to clinical and feel naked if I'm missing any of them.

- WhiteCoat Clipboard - Nursing Edition
- Littman Classic III stethoscope
- Bandage Scissors
- Alcohol prep pads
- Pen light
- Retractable Black ink pen
- Watch
- Clinique Chubby Stix - heaping hazelnut (I also absolutely love aquaphor for my lips - not in image)

Hope that helps you all in some way. Thanks for taking the time to read about my journey through nursing bootcamp lol!
