The Sooner the BETTER!!!!!!!!

Jell'O Everyone!!! So, I really wanted to have a blog where I can help you exceed in your classes before you get there. How can you prepare for a class you haven't even stepped foot in. If someone would have told me this prior to nursing school ...... It would have helped IMMENSELY!!! Here's a few tips. I should start off by saying that you will learn as you go. There's only so much you can do before hand but the small stuff really does help. Start with memorizing your lab values. Those are things that you have learn now. The downside to that is that not all lab values are consistent. It changes a bit depending on what textbook you have but for the most part they are all within the same range. So start learning those. MEMORIZE THEM!!! I didn't know to do that prior to and I kind of struggle with memorizing them due to having to memorize all the drugs we're currently being taught in pharmacology. Know your lab values!!! Here's a few to know: Electrolytes ...

Really?! You've got to be KIDDING ME!!!!!!!

Jell'o Everyone!! So, I kind of have this thing where I run late to certain things, like birthday dinners etc ... I am getting better lol. It's like something always comes up BUT I'm NEVER and I repeat NEVER am late to school or clinicals. I normally have class at 9am and since traffic is sooooo bad in Atlanta I wake up around 4am, leave at 5am and arrive to campus around 5:45am and sometimes 6am. I use that time to study!! I avoid traffic and have study time without distractions, that's always a WIN!!!! It's seriously what it takes. So, with that said let me tell you what happened (I apologize for any TMI lol) ...... Let's back track to where it all started. January 9, 2017 (Monday) I had class from 9a-4p. Meaning that I was up at 4a and didn't make it home until about 6p. I had a killer migraine! Unfortunately, I get those often :(. There's nothing I can really take to help and when it's really really bad I take a sleep-aid like Zzquil to help...

Back to the FUTURE!!!

Jell'o Everyone!! Back to the future!! Time to brush off the laziness that comes with "the break" and get back to the books and work on my future. So, a little on my break ... I was born in the Bronx, NY and majority of my family still resides there. My husband is also from NY and we decided to spend a week there. We visit as often as we can and we were so excited about this trip. Long story short we spent a good two days and the rest of the week .... we were SICK! Uuuhhggg! Who gets sick on vacation?! Obviously us. Not fun. I did get a lot of sleep so I must say, the extra sleep was a win. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas & are having a Happy New Year. Now to get you all with the program ... my first day back was yesterday. I had an exam yesterday and today I had another one. Medication Calculation. That is probably one of the most stressful exams. Passing is the only option (no pressure right). This accelerated program thing is NO JOKE! There were days when ...

MAKE IT COUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jell'o Everyone!!! It is a NEW YEAR! Seriously can't believe that it is 2017! For all you future nurses .... keep pushing and do not ... I repeat .... DO NOT give up! Giving up is not an option. I look back at the beginning of my journey and man! I've come a long way. I remember taking my prereq's and thinking geesssh this is taking forever! I hated being in that funky place. When people would ask what I was going to school for I would say nursing BUT I'm still working on my prereq's. I wasn't even at the place where I was applying to nursing school. People don't understand how difficult it may be to get into nursing school or just the different obstacles you have to get passed to make it to nursing school. No matter if you are taking your prereq's or haven't even started taking your prereq's, the point is to start! Get started now. Time is going to pass whether you are pursuing your dreams or not. I decided that I wanted to be better a...
