Say Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa .....

Jell'o Everyone!

Yes little ole me was a guest speaker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS AWESOME!!! So, here's the 411 on how it went down. Wednesday's I'm off. I don't have class but I normally am in open lab practicing on skills, or doing some kind of school work (story of my life ... and every nursing student on the planet). That day I woke up, straightened my hair and dressed up a bit. Yes I did straighten my hair, I had to be professional guys, lol. I didn't want to dress for an interview but didn't want to show up in scrubs either. I wore a black & white blouse, hot pink blazer (not pierce-your-eyes hot pink, maybe more magenta, like blues-clues magenta, lol), jeans and black heels. That was definitely my fake-it-til-you-make-it look. Got to play the part til you really have the part! Get in the car and I hit major traffic.  ---------- I am sweating at this point ----------- You can NOT and I repeat can NOT start off being late. How hypocritical would that be? Punctuality was definitely one of my major points! I gave myself enough time but Atlanta traffic is seriously no joke!

Did I mention that I had to be there at 1? Yeah. Not like it was at 8 am or 5pm. Well I prayed my little heart out and God made a way. I parked at 12:55, YESS. Got to her class and as I walked in she said, "whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I didn't recognize you!" I took that as a good start, sat down and tried blending in as she took roll. She introduced me and I was on my way. I gave them tips, helpful advice, talked about my experience, things I did that helped and opened it up for questions. I was afraid that I would be up there, in front of the class, and no one was in the slightest bit interested. Thank God it was just a fear. I was scheduled for an hour and originally thought there was no way I would take up that much time. The questions kept rolling in. One after the other and no time for that awky silence. IT WAS AWESOME! It was great to be able to help others out and give them pointers for their upcoming classes, answer any burning questions, advice, tips etc. I was just one of them. First day in nursing school with a whole lot of unknown, excitement, fears but eager to have someone shine some light on me. Give me a little insight as to what to expect, some in's and out's. I started this blog to be able to do that for anyone that stumbled upon my page. It was so fulfilling. I felt so accomplished walking out of that classroom. I am only 3 sessions in and have a long way left to go, but I am no longer on day 1. Cheers to that!! I am in nursing school now! I am no longer worrying about applying, GEEZ. That alone is something to celebrate.

You have to celebrate every small accomplishment, not just graduation. These small hurdles get us to the finish line. Those small accomplishments need to be celebrated to keep you sane. I am a nervous wreck as I approach exams EVERY WEEK. I am soooo thankful when grades come in and I've passed another exam. When I'm approaching finals I'm filled with tons of emotions, excited for another beginning but nervous because exams are always cumulative and tough. Blessed to be where I am and blessed to be able to look forward to new beginnings. I am surrounded by awesome people and that alone is a huge blessing.

I'll be updating you all on how Fundamentals 1 & Heath Assessment 1 are on my next post. Toughest session yet.
