Pathophysiology, Uniforms & Stethoscopes.

Jell'o Everyone!!!!

It's been about 3 weeks. YIKES!! Busy, busy, busy. Studying of course. :)
As you may already guessed, I started patho! I am learning so much and truly enjoying it. There's sooooo much material that all I have time for is patho. It's getting tougher but I saw a "meme" that made me laugh but it's true. It truly made me think. It said "Nursing isn't for sissies", and I agreed with it. This is still the beginning of my journey but it hasn't been easy getting here. I feel that it's a lot of work, commitment and sacrifice but nothing good comes easy right? In all, it's definitely getting tougher but I am truly enjoying it. Getting organized, color coding and time management makes it a lot more manageable! I'll let u all know how patho continues to go for me.

Uniforms!!!! I ordered my nursing school uniforms and was seriously tracking that package. Arrival said it would arrive tuesday (end of day), which means they could take all day long to get here. Well, it did. Made me wait all day but I was super excited to rip that box open! Felt like a kid on Christmas morning .... or if you're a dominican, whatever time the family decides to open the gifts (it can change from year to year lol). I was excited. I try on the scrub tops and it fit perfectly. The pants, not the same story. For some reason those stopped at the thighs. Dominican problems. I ordered both xs because I was told that they run big and I am petite. I normally have to order larger bottoms but didn't think that would be the case since I was told over and over that they are bigger than normal. Point is that I have to now figure out whether to go one size up or two. I'll keep ya posted on that too.

I still have to get a few more items. One of the main items a nurse needs is a stethoscope. Prior to nursing school I never noticed brands for stethoscopes and never really gave it thought, until now. THERE ARE SOOOO MANY CHOICES!! Oo and let me tell you ... they are NOT cheap. I am now trying to figure out if I should get a Littman or a MDF stethoscope. I don't care for top of the line but want one that I can use for school and work after graduation. Another thing would be the shoes! I want something that is super comfortable. I'm working on figuring all these things out. I'll probably have to create a post on updates alone lol. A lot left pending after this post :). Alright well, I'm keeping this one short and sweet. Headed back to study for patho. I start my days studying and end them the same way. You'll be there soon enough, if you aren't already. Smooches.

Jell'o Everyone! Yes little ole me was a guest speaker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS AWESOME!!! So, here's the 411 on how it went down. Wednesday's I'm off. Pathophysiology!

Jell'o Everyone!!!! I am almost done with Patho! It has definitely been a ride for me. I knew that this would be a tough course and that I would have to really think like a nursing student and I couldn't have been more correct. Let me start off my saying .... I LOVED patho! It was a subject that I enjoyed .... Well it's a subject I enjoy (I still have a week left). To learn about what is happening in the body when someone has asthma, diabetes or COPD is AWESOME! I mean it's not awesome to see anyone with any of those but it's good to feel productive. To be able to know what is happening or has happened in the body is very friggin cool in my book. I enjoy these things. I find all of this very interesting. Our bodies are so complex. It's very cool to see how one thing can affect something else. To see how things tie in with others. There's so much to learn but I'm definitely on my way. I'M A NURSING STUDENT!!!! I have to keep reminding myself of that...

Soak it up baby!!

Jell'o Everyone, Food for thought-type-of-post. Ever stopped in your tracks to think of how far you've come? Yes we have obstacles to overcome each & every day BUT have you really given thought to the fact that there was a day you dreamed of having that obstacle? Let me explain myself. There may be times you are feeling annoyed with your spouse BUT when you were single you wished that was even an option. When you're in nursing school you're complaining about the lack of sleep due to these crazy assignments BUT when you were applying you dreamed of what it would be like to be a nursing student. When you're at work late charting on your patients and it's wayyyy past 7:30pm, you're exhausted and just itching to be home in bed BUT when you were about to sit for the NCLEX you prayed for the day you were finally a registered nurse.
