SUPPORT!
Jell'o Everyone!
Support is crucial.
Nursing school is not a piece of cake. It requires a lot out of you. It can be very stressful. Professors and staff in most nursing schools don't recommend the students work. I keep hearing from nursing students further along, that they eventually had to stop working. The work load in school was too much. When I was taking my prenursing classes (prereq's), I started noticing that it would be a tough ride. It wasn't going to be easy.
Stadium seating classes would start out packed and by the end .... let's just say that people would drop like flies. Anatomy and Physiology, Organic Chemistry, Microbiology, etc. These courses convinced people that they weren't cut out to be nurses. They quickly realized that nursing is not what they thought. Some people may think that nurses just wipe sick butts. Oo how wrong. There's so much to nurses. Prenursing classes alone make tons of people quit. Imagine nursing school. YIKES. I've got a some way to go and so you'll know more as I go but it's tough.
If you're also embarking on this journey, surround yourself with awesome people. People that are going to help you. Genuine people. People that are willing to sacrifice things for you. People that are willing to invest in your life. I am soooooooooooo humbled by the people I'm surrounded by. My husband is heaven sent. He has made my goals his. He is going through this journey with me. Matthew 6:33 says, "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." I am not even a little bit close to perfect, in fact, I fall short on a daily basis. I know that God aligns my life and He's placed theses awesome people in my life.
Support! You'll need it. If you have children, you will eventually need someone to care for your children while you are in school. You might need someone to help you pay for school. Maybe you'll need recommendation letters or good references for a future job. You will definitely need someone to vent with or just a simple word of encouragement. Someone!
I have a husband that puts me before himself. Parents that are willing to extend a helping hand. Family and fRamily that are always understanding. Professors that have been willing to help me in my walk through school. Recommendation letters, references, tutoring, etc. I've worked hard and continue to do so but I couldn't have made it this far without these people. Their prayers, love and support has made a life lasting impact in my life. I will be better for them. If nursing is your calling, if that is the career path you want to take, make sure you have your support.
